Moving news feeds…

Jabber.org Jabber server is down and I can’t retrieve the list of RSS feeds from the Jabber bot I have in my roster. If I rememer well, the list is quite big (I like being informed).

The plan is the following:
1. copy all the RSS feed links from the Jabber Bot to aKregator (comming with Kontact in KDE 3.4). aKregator will integrate pretty well all the news in my desktop.
2. disable feeds in the Jabber bot without deleting them (I hope this is possible) - I don’t want them to pop since I have them in aKregator

This way, if it’s possible to enable/disable the RSS feeds in the Jabber bot, I’ll be able to read the news while not being at the computer, using the power of Jabber :)

Psi 0.9.2 is out

The long-waited 0.9.2 version of Psi is out. Do I need to tell you that it is the best jabber client around? Nope.. didn’t think so…

I’ll just let the facts (ChangeLog) speak:

* File transfer
* Event queue is saved to disk at all times for fault protection
* Enable/disable accounts
* Groupchat nickname tab-completion
* Groupchat trackbar to mark last read text when unfocused
* *bold*, /italic/, _underline_
* Fixed bug where the roster window could get lost on Windows
* ‘Compact’ mode for chat window
* Tip of the day
* Hidden roster group
* Ability to export history as readable text
* Event queue sorting by type
* Type-ahead search in the roster
* External programs can now have parameters
* Toolbar configuration is now accessed from the right-click menu
* Show dates in local format
* Use the gnome-open utility for opening URLs with GNOME2
* Fixed “broken pipe” crash when receiving GnuPG errors …

I’ve built and uploaded the Windows Installer package and the ArchLinux package .
Don’t forget to go to the Downloads page to grab the latest version.

Jabbering with Psi for 1 year

Today it’s been exactly one year since I joined the Psi Forums. For those that don’t know, Psi is probably the best Jabber client living out there, in the Internet.

Q: How’s Psi after one year?
A: Getting better… :D (as always).

My first post was on May 13th, 2003, probably after getting used with Psi and it features. Psi advanced a lot compared to what I found exactly one year ago. It has now popup support (mentioned in that first post), service discovery, MUC, file transfers (availabe next version)… and many others, that I probably forgetting right now.

Anyway, one of the greatest things about Psi is it’s community - a passioned group of developers, contributors and users, making one of the best (maybe even the best) Jabber Client. On Jan 24, 2004 I’ve been promoted (this word sounds really nice) to Forum Moderator in the Psi Community. This was a good chance for me to start giving more to this wonderful community. I am trying to do my best.

Happy birthday to me & Psi ! I’m a certified one year old Psi user!
