New school year…
Yep, today a new school year starts, for the students in .ro.
The day started great for me at 7:30am, when my mobile wake me up after ~4h of sleep and I mean this. Preparations were done in the sound of MTV Music… this was the thing that really woke me up. At 7:30am, I was alone at home as everybody left for their work early.
I had some stuff to do in the city and I got at the uni at about 10:00am, after experiencing the morning traffic in Bucharest - got to love it, I forgot how it was.
How was the athmosphere? Well, crowded, lots of new students waiting to enjoy the year… I can hear some of you, there in the back: yeah sure :p.
Some of the new students will have me as their teaching assistant at a new course, Using Operating Systems (I hope I got the translation right). The acronym is the same in .ro: USO (sounds like UFO, doesn’t it? - I hope it won’t be like this for the new students). The labs I will be teaching at are actually Linux labs.
Up until 2pm, me and my colleague teaching assistants checked the computers for tomorrow, when we will have our first classes. The more I think about it, the more I believe that we might have to explain some stuff really in-deep, as the labs try to cover a wide range of activities.
Besides this, I managed to get my schedule, after its release had been delayed up until the very last moment. Sad day for my series. A group from my series was moved out to another series as some other students were moved in (I’m in the 3rd year; these new students couldn’t get into the 4th year; their presence in our series was conditioned by the fact that they had classes with the teachers in our series and they could only pass exams with these teachers). I find the system plain wrong. Having said this, I do realize nothing will be changed soon.
Well, now I’m getting ready for tomorrow… the first true school day.
