Moving news feeds…

Jabber.org Jabber server is down and I can’t retrieve the list of RSS feeds from the Jabber bot I have in my roster. If I rememer well, the list is quite big (I like being informed).

The plan is the following:
1. copy all the RSS feed links from the Jabber Bot to aKregator (comming with Kontact in KDE 3.4). aKregator will integrate pretty well all the news in my desktop.
2. disable feeds in the Jabber bot without deleting them (I hope this is possible) - I don’t want them to pop since I have them in aKregator

This way, if it’s possible to enable/disable the RSS feeds in the Jabber bot, I’ll be able to read the news while not being at the computer, using the power of Jabber :)

KDE 3.4 beta 2 - experiece for better

Installed KDE 3.4 beta 2 today. I should make my computer ready for the next release ahead of time.

The options I went straight to: “Use translucency/shadows” :D
Well, first impression: KDE is getting close to a nice MacOS-like experience.
XComposite (comming with X.org is not really bug-free and it has some annoying behaviour here and then.

I filled up today (more like… “tonight”) @ KDE Bug Tracking System:
- 8 bug reports on transluncency/shadows (one got fixed up to now)
- 2 bugs on KDE PIM, specifically in aKregator - the news reader comming integrated in Kontact.
Edit (Feb 20, 12:57): +1 bug report on translucency

I tried to be as specific as possible, hoping that KDE will benefit from a close-to-perfect user experience in the next version. I hope the devs will manage to fix most of them prior to the release of 3.4.

Winter Exams Session ended

Finally, the winter exam session ended. It ended successfully :)

Surprisingly, even though this was the most difficult semester of the entire faculty (at least I hope I’ve heard this well), the average grade of most of the students is higher compared to the previous 2 semesters (I’m in 2nd year out of 5 years).

A short one week vacation follows. I will take advantage of it.
First of all… let’s clean up a bit and archive the courses from the last semester. There is plenty of paper to sort.

Escape in the Sport Dance world

I’ve spent a lovely afternoon pleasing my eyes with some professional dancing moves at the Bucharest Sport Dance Cup. I’ve also met a good High School friend of mine, Bianca, who participated in the contest. She’s a big fan of dancing. She’s been dancing for several years now.

I’ve watched dancers from the Hobby class, E class and D class (closer to A = better). The most exquisite moves belonged to the dancers participating at the Latino Open. The passion in their moves simply leave you speachless. You start dreaming with your eyes opened… it’s a great relaxing feeling.
All the dancers tried to show their strengths in dancing Wals, Quick Step, Jive, Samba, Rumba and many more.

Even if you have nothing to do with dancing, the elegant moves will definitely fill your heart with joy.

The lack of time (& unappropriate school schedule) didn’t allow me to continue dancing, not even as a hobby. But… there’s still plenty of space in my room… :)… and good friends who let me know when dance contests take place. Thank you.
